i think our PSA is going to be effective. it might sound like a joke because many people do not think sexting is a big issue, but it effects all of us teenagers and some adults as well. everyone can think of a time that they were embarrassed publicly, well this is embarrassment in the worst way. everyone can feel her pain but at the same time everyone knows that they don't want to be the girl who has been exposed.

My group ran into some technical difficulties with our camera so we havent been able to actually make a rough draft. i can't really say if i'm happy with it or not since it doesn't exist yet. i am happy with how our filming went after the technical difficulties though.

Our group is in the pre filming phase. we have a couple things we need to iron out a a group and we have to set filming dates still. all three of us need to come together and set dates that work for us to film and we need actors to be in our video. we will start in very soon on getting our actors set up. our filming sites are home and school so there shouldn't be any problems with that as far as we know. everything should go smoothly.

the most challenging part of this psa project has probably been getting all of our ideas together to make one story. three people creating one psa can be problematic. We have all worked very hard to make our ideas cohesive. We still have a few things to iron out as we start filming but it should turn out great.

my groups pitch went well. we got a lot of constructive feedback. the class thought that it was relevant to current happenings. we are doing sexting because of the amount of sexting we see everyday, on tv, in movies, and with celebrities. we are all influenced by it. our target audience is kids out age, teens etc. we want to convey the message that sexting is a serious matter and that it can ruin reputations and make you feel all around bad.

In the media PSA's serve as a source of information on pressing topics in society. They give us information we wouldn't regularly know form everyday life. Most PSA's are there to warn/educate/get us involved in things that are big deals at that given moment in time. The more the topic becomes a negative issue, the more likely there is going to be a public service announcement about it.
My group thought of a couple topics to focus on including violence in north Minneapolis, teen pressure, sexting. We all decided that sexting was the best/ most promising topic. Since sexting is such an issue with teens now a days we thought it would be perfect. We have all seen it happen, and we have all heard rumors about it.
Our plan is to combine popular music and common situations such as being in school and texting your boyfriend/girlfriend to get the viewer to pay attention. We want teenagers to be attracted to our PSA, we want other teens to understand that sexting is a problem and that it isnt a smart thing to do because it can come back to bite you in the end.
Personally i just threw ideas out to my group members and we all decided on this one, we all agreed on everything. i gave out soem ideas on music choices and situations/ scenes for our PSA. it was a fairly even group effort, we all agree on everything and we all are content with our storyboard.

what i've learned from MTN
From the last two MTN presentations i've learend about the process of production. There are many steps to producing a film/video etc. There are also many factors in making a film/video visually appealing. the sound, the setting, the lighting etc, all of these things go into making a well done video.
I plan on using a commercial from the UK about driver safety. It is of four girls in a car and the driver is texting and talking to her friends and they get into a violent crash, and the whole commercial shows what is happenening to them whilst in the car. It is a shocking a viloent clip of the truth about driving and being safe.
Media literacy is important because when you are literate you can comprehend and recieve the message that the the film makers were trying to get across. When you understand a piece of media it means more to you, it makes you have certain emotions and thoughts. effective media makes you think and feel, its notjust a visual or audio experience, it taps into your thought process.
